Wentworth Healthcare
Wentworth Healthcare is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of communities across the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith regions of New South Wales. As the provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network, it plays a key role in helping older adults stay healthy and live independently at home for longer.
To support this goal, MedicinesEd was engaged to deliver a series of consumer medicines literacy workshops, both face-to-face and online. Designed to build confidence and practical skills, these workshops helped participants better manage their medicines and make informed decisions about their health. They were developed through a co-design process, with input from local community members to ensure relevance and accessibility.
Throughout the program, we also helped share key messages from Wentworth Healthcare across the region, strengthening connections with consumers and reinforcing community priorities.
Following the workshops, participants showed a 46% improvement in their ability to interpret all aspects of a pharmacy label.
Confidence and engagement also increased across key areas:
74% of participants said they were more likely to ask questions of their healthcare professionals about medicines.
73% felt more confident understanding pharmacy labels.
61% felt more confident asking with health care professionals about medicines.
77% felt more confident knowing where to find trusted information about medicines.
Following the series of workshops, peoples’ ability to interpret all aspects of a pharmacy label increased by 46%.
